ORNITHOLOGICAL
ROUTES
The province
of Cadiz is one of the main passing through places for hundred thousand
migratory birds. The Strait of Gibraltar coasts are therefore a magnificient
observatory in periods when birds are going by.
Besides,
there are many wet areas declared as Conservation Areas ( Parks, Reserves
and Natural Sites ), where lots of interesting aquatic birds live such
as White- headed Ducks, Greater Flamingos, Purple Gallinules, Crested
Coots, etc.
In
Cadiz mountain range there were once Lammergeiers, Black Vultures and
Spanish Imperial Eagles. Nowadays the biggest population of Griffon Vultures
in the Iberian Peninsula are known to live here in the mountains of Cadiz.
It is the habitat of many small birds, easy to be observed in several
of the sites which are signposted as Ornithological routes.
ALJIBE-
Nature Activities offer several ornithological routes in some of these
areas, providing qualified staff and the required equipment ( telescopes,
binoculars and experienced birdguides ).
